On April 11, 1993, Ayrton Senna achieved the best first lap of his career.
Donington Park, which hosted F1 for the first and only time, was the stage for yet another show of skill by our three-time champion!
With 4th place on the grid and a difficult start, Ayrton Senna, who had the rain as an ally, turned the game around with precise overtaking, going from 5th place to 1st in less than one lap, once again making history in world motorsports.
In a race marked by several pit stops, Ayrton Senna still achieved the best lap with his final move: he gained time by using the pit lane, which shortened the track. A race so special that Bernie Ecclestone considered it the best day of the driver’s career!
Years later, Ayrton Senna was honored with a plaque at the Donington Museum: “THE GREATEST LAP OF THE CENTURY” to celebrate the beautiful victory at the racetrack.
