The most famous helmet in the world was made by us
Sid Mosca, the legendary “Master of Helmets”, left an immortal legacy in the history of motorsports, transforming simple protections into masterpieces that perpetuate his passion and bold vision.
Sid Mosca: A Legacy of Art and Speed
Cloacyr Sidney Mosca, or simply Sid Mosca, was born in Jaú, São Paulo, on April 4, 1937. He began his journey as a driver in the early 1970s, but his career would gain prominence not only on the tracks, but also in paint and customization workshops.
The Age of Cars and Colors
In the 1970s, the aggressive look of the cars painted by Sid Mosca in his workshop, Sid Special Paint, attracted attention. The artist stood out more for his bold brushstrokes than his runs. Requests for customization began, and thus began the legend of the “Helmet Master”.

Painting Stories on the Tracks
In 1973, Sid received his first proposal to customize a helmet. From then on, his creations would become a fundamental part of the identity of great names in Formula 1, such as Ayrton Senna, Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet, and many others.
Cars Marked by Sid
Among the most iconic cars, Ingo Hoffmann’s blue and orange Brasília No. 17 in 1973, and the transformation of the yellow Copersucar Fittipaldi car for Emerson Fittipaldi’s debut in 1976, highlight Sid Mosca’s versatility and genius.
The Art on Helmets
“Transforming helmets into art since 1973” – Sid Special Paint has established itself as a globally renowned brand. The helmets of drivers such as Fittipaldi, Senna, Piquet and Rosberg became works of art that not only represented the drivers, but also the colors of Brazil.

The Art on Helmets
Sid Mosca stood out for creating Ayrton Senna’s iconic helmet. The simplicity of the colors of the Brazilian flag, as well as the stripes that seemed to come out of the pilot’s eyes, became an eternal trademark. Senna humbly asked Sid to use that design forever.

Memorable Tributes
Sid not only painted helmets, but also created special pieces.
In 1999, a unique series of 50 helmets to celebrate 50 years of F1, commissioned by Bernie Ecclestone. In 2021, a tribute to the 30th anniversary of Ayrton Senna’s third championship.

The Legacy Continues
Sid Mosca was not just a talented painter; he was a visionary artist. On July 20, 2011, Sid passed away, but his legacy lives on. His son, Alan Mosca, and granddaughter, Stella Mosca, keep Sid Special Paint alive.
The brand expanded globally, collaborating with big names such as Raí Caldato and even being recognized by Lewis Hamilton.
A Journey of Love and Dedication
Sid Mosca, the Helmet Master, built an incredible career with love, care, dedication and professionalism. His legacy transcends painting, it is a story of passion for art, speed and joy in work.
May Sid Mosca’s story inspire future generations, celebrating not only his achievements but the vibrant and innovative spirit he brought to the world of motorsports.
